Rolf Schnyder
Composer
Rolf Schnyder is a Swiss songwriter, composer, and musician from the canton of Valais. His musical journey began in early childhood with the cornet as his first instrument. Over many years, he played with the village band of Gampel, developing a deep connection to traditional wind band and brass band culture, which continues to shape his musical understanding to this day.
Later, Rolf Schnyder turned his focus increasingly toward the guitar and completed his education at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Zurich. This was followed by work as a live and studio musician, music teacher, producer, and songwriter in various national and international projects. His stylistic range encompasses both modern songwriting approaches and orchestral and arranged musical forms, always with a strong emphasis on melody, atmosphere, and musical storytelling.
A major focus of his work lies in composing and producing music for film and television. He has successfully placed several songs in international film and TV productions, including the film One Day (2011). Additional placements followed in various international media and film projects, allowing his music to reach a broad audience.
As a songwriter, Rolf Schnyder collaborates with international artists and writers around the world. His songs have been performed and released by both independent artists and major-label artists across the globe. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Lennon Award in the Country Music category and recognition as a winner of the Australian Songwriting Competition. Further international songwriting awards highlight his standing within the global music community.
Today, he combines his roots in the brass band tradition with his experience in orchestral music production and a modern compositional approach.
